Apollo

Apollo is our sweet man who needs a bit of help keeping his breathing in check. During the warmer months, Apollo's COPD can take a toll. He requires doses of Ventipulmin (~$115 per prescription) to ease his breathing when the summer heat and dust get to him. Donations to the Annual Appeal may go towards Apollo's medical care.

Badger

Our little paint, Badger, came to us with a severe case of equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM). Because of this, Badger will be "wobbly" for the rest of his life. To help keep flare-ups at bay, we give Badger Diclazeril which costs $240 for a monthly supply. Donations to our Annual Appeal may provide this supplement for Badger.

Dawson

Our oldest resident at FHHR, Dawson, has needed a third meal several years now to help keep him at a healthy weight. Given his age, he has lost many of his teeth which makes it hard for him to get the nutrients he needs. Each meal costs about $20, or $60 a day just for Dawson. This year, we have spent over $10,000 on feed for our horses. Donations to our Annual Appeal may provide feed for Dawson's extra meal.

Delilah

Lovely lady, Delilah, recently had a severe flare-up of equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM). Due to the severity, we treated her symptoms with two doses of Protazil which cost about $1,600 (~$800 per month). She has also started receiving Diclazeril ($240 per month) and Prascend ($225 per month). Donations to our Annual Appeal may go towards Delilah's medical care, so she can stay happy and healthy.

Mystery

Mister Mystery arrived at FHHR after his owner of over 20 years passed away. In his time of need, FHHR stepped in to provide Mystery with a new home. At first, he was hesitant and a bit nervous. Today, Mystery has blossomed into a loving, curious horse who whinnies a greeting at every volunteer he sees. He has even become confident enough to participate in our events and programs. He has truly become a part of the herd. Donations to our Annual Appeal will help us continue to succeed in our mission to help horses like Mystery.

Nora

Nora, our sassy Thoroughbred, came to us very green. She had very little training, and was not ready to be adopted without first being deemed sound. Since then, Nora has received over $2,000 of training from our professional trainers. This training will make Nora a better candidate for adoption. Donations to our Annual Appeal may go towards providing Nora with the training she needs to find her forever home.

Sir Magic

The cuddly Sir Magic was once an experienced race horse. He was kept in a stall unless being trained, and developed anxiety. After his racing days, his previous owner noticed his anxiety would worsen when confined to a stall. She realized that bringing him to FHHR would allow him to live a much happier life. Since coming to FHHR, Sir has had access to his beautiful pasture. He grazes on lush grass, and has a pasture-mate to keep him company. Grounds maintenance and upkeep costs about $2,500 per year. Donations to our Annual Appeal may go towards keeping Sir Magic's pasture perfectly pristine.

River

River is our gentle buddy who's known by many for his role in our events and programs. River has attended and participated in every educational program this year. His calm demeanor provides reassurance for children who aren't used to horses. He loves meeting new people! Every year, FHHR spends over $2,500 to provide these community programs. Donations to our Annual Appeal may help us continue to provide these programs to children, veterans, and other groups in need.
